For the third year in a row we delivered roses and treats to women who are now single on Valentine's Day. With the help from our friends at Les Amis Flowerland and Lolli's Chocolates, both in Lafayette, we hit the road today to deliver a dozen red roses and chocolate covered strawberries to three women who were nominated for the giveaway. We received hundreds of e-mails nominating women from all over south Louisiana, but as we went through each and every e-mail, we selected these three women to be the recipients of the 2014 Valentine's Day Giveaway.

The HOT Crew delivered roses to a teacher at Carencro High School, to a single mom who is a nurse at the hospital in Church Point, and to a woman who just lost her fiance in a shooting while he was working at the Jockey Lot in Carencro.

Each of these women wept as we approached them with the roses and chocolates, but all were left smiling as we went separate ways. All three of these deserving women also said that had it not been for the person who nominated them for this giveaway, they would not have received anything this year for Valentine's Day.

We want to thank all of you who took the time to nominate someone you know for this giveaway, and we would also like to thank all of you who may have cried and smiled with us along this journey. Each day when we would read their letters on the radio, we would get comments via Facebook or Twitter expressing your feelings towards these women's stories. We're sorry if you ruined anyone's makeup this week, but you should know that you were not the only one who felt that way after hearing these stories.

In closing, we need to thank Les Amis Flowerland and Lolli's Chocolates for helping us out again this year. It's businesses like these two that make Lafayette such a beautiful place to call home. For all of us here at HOT 107-9, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!
