I follow Schilling Distributing Company (a local wholesale beverage distributor) on Facebook, and they posted an interesting video today about the proper way to pour a beer.

It appears that if you pour a beer that does not release the CO2 (carbonation) from the beer, all of that carbonation ends up in your belly, giving you two things: 1) that bloated feeling and 2) the gas that accompanies that bloated feeling (burp!).

Along with reducing discomfort, the release of the CO2 prior to consumption also allows a decent foam "head" to form on the top of the beer, and that's where you'll find more of the flavors of the beer.

So, a "properly" poured beer will have a head!  Now you know!
