Good news for fans of the Friday films.

During an interview on DJ Whoo Kid's The Whoolywood Shuffle, Ice Cube said the only thing that's standing in the way of the film being made is a good script.

"We haven't got the money," he explained. "They haven't cut a check [for us to make it yet], but they're moving in the right direction. They told us 'Man, just bring us a script and let's do it.' So that's what we're working on. Just making sure it's funny and up to date."

It seems that ever since the film Straight Outta Compton, Cube's career has kicked into overdrive. He's started that much talked about BIG3 basketball league, inked a new deal with Interscope Records and has just been a big presence in entertainment overall. He's also been as vocal as ever on social issues.

In an interview with the AP, Cube talked about the continued police violence against the Black community, stating that nothing has changed.

“Police have a philosophy, they have a theory, they have a way of doing stuff, it’s win at all costs,” Cube, born O’Shea Jackson, said in the interview with AP. “Win now, apologize later, that’s the model. By having that way of thinking and that philosophy, it’s all about ‘Us against Them,’ that’s the mentality.”

Hopefully, the rap legend will keep us updated as to the progress of the next Friday film, and those Hollywood bigwigs cut that check. You can see Cube's interview above.
