Everyone dies, but it's something we don't like to think about. Rock 'n Roll music has been a consuming passion of mine since childhood. One of it's greatest pioneers has left us. CNN reports, Chuck Berry has passed away at the age  of 90. I learned of Chuck's music through a "reverse engineering" process. The Beatles recordings of "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Rock 'n Roll Music" were my introduction. It seems  like "everyone" has covered "Johnny B. Goode" at some point. Chuck embodied the rebellious spirit of early Rock 'n Roll. He had his legal difficulties , and served jail time. The spirit of his music was indomitable. In 1986, Keith Richard of the Rolling Stones organized a 60th birthday celebration concert, featuring Linda Ronstadt, Eric Clapton , Julian Lennon, Roy Orbison, Etta James, and Joe Walsh, among others. A documentary film, entitled "Hail Hail Rock And Roll" was subsequently released. That "Hell of a band" in Rock 'n Roll heaven just gained another legend. I've never seen Chuck Berry perform live. Hopefully I'll get to see him in the afterlife.
