Isaac Causing High Schools to Make Contingency Plans
Once Hurricane, now Tropical Storm Isaac’s trek through Acadiana is wreaking some havoc on high school football schedules this weekend.
Two games: Carencro/East St. John and Notre Dame/Southwood have been cancelled and will not be made up.
Earlier Wednesday on Bird’s Eye View, Jay Walker spoke with Eric Narcisse, prep editor of the Daily Advertiser. Eric reported the Acadiana/Northside game has been moved to Saturday and will be played at Clark Field beginning at 10:30am. Breaux Bridge and Westgate will follow at 2:30.
Clark Field, with its newly-installed turf, is becoming a popular spot for the weekend. New Iberia and St. Martinville are scheduled to play there Friday night at 7pm.
Comeaux has moved its game to Saturday and will play Morgan City at 1pm Saturday.
As of 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, St. Thomas More at Sulphur, Lafayette at Woodlawn and Teurlings at Catholic (NI) are all on as originally scheduled. That, of course, could change.
We’ll stay in touch with Eric and give you the latest as we get it. By the way, you can follow Eric @TDANarcisse.
Mike Mitchell, executive producer of Friday Night Football telecasts on myKLAF TV said Wednesday their scheduled telecast of Acadiana/Northside would still take place, despite the date and venue change.
