Two More Popular Lafayette Businesses Have Closed
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - We don't like sharing news like this, but two more businesses in Lafayette have packed up and locked their doors.
In recent months, we've shared the unfortunate news here as businesses have closed across Acadiana, and we have noticed that two more popular businesses have closed their doors.
Recently, when I was leaving Walmart on Ambassador Caffery, I looked across the street and noticed something was missing in the shopping center just north of Walmart. After I entered the parking lot, I realized that a huge sign on the building was gone, and that was the sign for Sports Clips.
I exited my vehicle, walked up to the door, and saw that everything in the unit, which was once the home of SportsClips, had been removed. Yes, SportsClips, which has been located near Walmart on Ambassador Caffery for many years, is now closed.
A few days later, someone reported on social media that another popular business appeared to be closed along Ambassador Caffery, so I drove by to see for myself, and I can confirm that a popular lunch spot is no longer in operation.
The Subway restaurant, which had been located in the shopping center at Ambassador Caffery and Eraste Landry for several years, is now closed as well. Like SportClips, there seemed to be little left in that space.
We don't have any specific reason for either business closing in Lafayette in recent weeks, but if you've visited either in the past, you know that, at times, both were very busy. It's unfortunate when any business closes, and we hope its employees were able to find work after the recent closures.
As we approach the holiday season, we encourage you to shop local and support those within your own community. Times are tough for small businesses, and if you can support them, we know that they would greatly appreciate it this holiday season.
