(Lafayette, Louisiana) - One of Lafayette's favorite events or cook-offs has been canceled, and we hate to see this one go.

The annual Boudin Cook-Off, held in Downtown Lafayette, has announced that it will no longer take place after 16 years.

The announcement came via social media, and so many people who've attended this great event were heartbroken to hear that the cook-off is no longer happening.

For years, this event has attracted so many people from across the state, and I remember attending the inaugural cook-off, and it was PACKED.

So many people showed up at the first year this event happened in Downtown Lafayette that vendors actually ran out of food (Boudini), so many sent workers back to their respective locations to get more boudin to serve at the event.

The organizers said in their announcement that they will cherish the memories made at this annual event. Still, no exact reason was given as to why, after 16 years, the Boudin Cook-Off would no longer happen in Lafayette.

If there's any update provided as to why this great event is no longer happening, we will give an update here and on this station's mobile app.
