(Lafayette, Louisiana) For those visiting a popular park in Lafayette, we want to be aware of what may be lurking out there.

A video posted by Sarah Catherine Walker on social media shows a coyote walking along a tree line in Moncus Park, located in the center of Lafayette, Louisiana.

The wild animal, which can be a danger to small animals and children, did not seem to be bothered by the person shooting the video, and it continued on its way.

This isn't the first report of a coyote on the loose in Lafayette, and it will likely not be the last. I have seen them standing alongside Ambassador Caffery and on Ridge Road in Lafayette, so yes, they're out there.

We share this with you not to scare anyone, but rather to remind you of the potential threat, as wild animals seem to be more visible in inhabited areas. With so much construction and development in the area, we should expect to see more wild animals in areas where we least expect to see them.

Are Coyotes Dangerous Animals?

If you do come across a coyote while in the park or anywhere, for that matter, you should not approach it, and you should slowly walk away from it. Coyotes are known to be aggressive animals.

You should also do whatever you can to protect small animals that may be outdoors. Coyotes are known to attack small pets and farm animals.

Here's the coyote that was spotted in the middle of the city. We applaud and thank Sarah Walker for posting this video, as it serves as an excellent reminder to always be aware of your surroundings while in the park.

You may have seen this report a few years back, and it shows a dad rescuing one of his kids as a coyote attacked the child in their front yard. Yes, they're that brave.
