(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Airports across the country are experiencing major delays during the government shutdown due to a lack of TSA workers, but some in Lafayette are still showing up for work without pay.

Until the Federal Government reaches an agreement, many TSA workers around the country will continue to show up for work without pay. Some are working, and now would be a great time to support them.

The Lafayette Regional Airport recently shared a social media post that we want to share here, and it explains what you can do to support those working each and every day, without pay.

While "on the clock' many of these men and women still need to support their families, and by purchasing gift cards for them, you can ensure that the lights stay on at home or that they are able to provide meals for loved ones at home.

In the local airport's social media post, it says you can contact John Gallet, Transportation Security Manager, at (318) 537-3558 for information on how to support TSA workers during the shutdown.

I saw in a separate social media post that there are 34 TSA workers at the Lafayette Regional Airport, and, like others around the country, they are working without pay.

Recently, our friend David Begnaud, a contributor to CBS News, was in Lafayette to fly back home to California, and he had this to say about the TSA workers at Lafayette Regional Airport.

President Donald J. Trump deployed ICE agents to major airports around the country this week to assist those agents on duty, but major delays are still being reported at airports in New Orleans, Houston, etc.

Look, Acadiana has always been known for assisting those in need, and we hope you can support the agents in Lafayette who work without pay. If you can't financially support them, please consider sharing this story so others can see it and offer assistance to these wonderful workers.

Until then, let's hope those we've elected soon reach an agreement so that these workers, along with others, can get paid.
