Parents in Louisiana are rushing to stores this holiday season and we now know that some regret getting their kids from previous years.

We recently asked on social media and on the air, what's the one gift you regret getting your kid for Christmas? The answers varied, but many parents said the same thing and we'll highlight some here.

So, before you go out and make a big purchase, you may want to check out this list of items some parents say to avoid purchasing for your kids, and here's why.

A Trampoline

You can add me to this list of parents. Several parents say that they regret getting their kids a trampoline. Not only are they dangerous, but kids often lose interest in them too. Like the swing set, the trampoline can be an eyesore for your backyard and you already know what happens to them if a dangerous storm sweeps through your area---they end up in places they shouldn't. Of all the things we've purchased for our kids, this is by far my biggest regret.

A Smartphone

Many say that they regret purchasing a phone for their kid(s). And while I like the idea of my kid having access to one, at times I too wish he didn't have a phone. Kids are buried in their phones, and like televisions, I too feel like phones distract kids from being kids. A parent even said that she wishes she'd never gotten her kid a phone because they have access to too much information.

A Swimming Pool

While swimming pools can be refreshing and relaxing, they can also be a lot of work to maintain. Several parents say that they regret getting their kids a pool. Plus, with the high maintenance comes very expensive products.

A Swing Set

While swing sets can be a great form of entertainment for kids, most parents find the apparatus to be annoying in the yard. Not only does it take up space, but when it comes time to cut the grass around a swing set, it can get tricky. Plus, kids often lose interest in them fast!!!

Leggos

If you have kids, chances are they have Legos. And yes, the Legos can be a mess. Plus, these small pieces often end up on the floor and if you've ever walked over one unexpectedly, you know the pain. Several parents say that they regret ever purchasing Legos for their kids, and I am one!

A Smart Television

Kids love technology and they know how to use it. Some parents say that if they could, they would not make the purchase when it comes to the smart TV. Not only do kids get locked into the television, they often get into things parents would rather they not. One parent said the smart TV is the one thing that keeps her kid from being active outdoors.

A Whistle

While I never purchased a whistle for my kids, they did catch a few recently at a Mardi Gras parade and I will never allow whistles back in the house. What an annoying thing!! Don't do it, parents!!
