A Sheriff's Department in southeastern Louisiana posted an important reminder for drivers while navigating through rain showers and they even threw in a comedic twist to their reminder.

For years many have been critical of those who drive through thunderstorms with their hazard lights on and just recently I got stuck behind someone with their hazards on during a torrential downpour while it was dark and their flashing lights made it more difficult to drive in the rain.

Your hazard lights on your vehicle are to be used for emergencies or if your vehicle becomes a hazard on or off the road.

For some reason, many still do engage their hazard lights when driving through storms and those who do will tell you that they use their hazards to alert others that they are traveling at a slower speed.

Well, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office posted a reminder on social media and it reminded drivers in Louisiana to not use their hazard lights during storms. Then, the agency added a funny twist to their reminder when they encouraged drivers to not turn their vehicles into DISCO BALLS.

Like a disco ball, when your hazards are on during a storm the lights can be very bright and at times blinding to others on the road.

Here's the hilarious post by the police agency that many were quick to share with others on the social media platform.

A quick weather reminder for all in south Louisiana, we are expecting a lot of rain in the next few days so please drive safely and do not turn your vehicle into a disco ball.

Stay safe on the roads, Louisiana.
