(KTDY) - Many in South Louisiana enjoy a night with friends or family on the weekend, and at times, adult beverages are included in the fun.

Well, with that at times come consequences, llike the hangover the next morning.

I think we're all guilty of having one or two nights in our lives when we've consumed too much while sitting around with friends, and you don't notice how much you've consumed until the next morning.

Yes, the hangovers only get worse as you age, but there's a combination of things you can eat and drink while experiencing a hangover that may ease the pain.

Sure, you can go places now after a long night out to rehydrate yourself, which does cure the hangover, but why do that when you can enjoy a Cajun favorite?

Years ago, I was told by someone that if you have a hangover, the best thing you can do is get yourself some Boudin, Doritos Chips, and a Dr. Pepper. Consume all that I've mentioned here, and soon you'll be feeling much better.

Now, I can't ssay that I have tried this combination while battling a hangover, but those who have swear by it, and they continue to resort to it when feeling bad after a night of partying.

We share this with you because in Acadiana, there are so many great places to get boudin, and if this is another reason to enjoy this southern favorite, why not?

What Causes A Hangover

Hangovers seem to happen most when one consumes too much alcohol. As a result of over-consuming, one can become dehydrated, experience low blood sugar, gastrointestinal irritation, and inflammation.

Common Hangvoer Symptons

  • Extreme tiredness and weakness
  • Thirst and dry mouth
  • Headache and muscle aches
  • Nausea, vomiting, or belly pain
  • Poor sleep or not getting enough sleep
  • Low tolerance for light and sound
  • Dizziness or a sense of the room spinning
  • Shakiness and sweating
  • Problems concentrating or thinking clearly
  • Changes in mood, such as depression, anxiety, and irritability
  • Fast heartbeat

Another quick cure I've heard for the hangover is French Fries from McDonald's, along with a large Coca-Cola. Perhaps it has something to do with the carbs and grease here, but many of my friends swear by this cure, too.
