The New Year is bringing changes to Acadiana and Lafayette, and one popular event will no longer happen in the "Hub City."

Food has always been part of the culture in South Louisiana and when highlighted, many flock to events that showcase the great food we have here in Acadiana.

One of our favorite events in Lafayette has always been "Taste of Eat Lafayette" held at the Cajundomoe Convention Center, where many local restaurants showcase some of their best food items or dishes.

The event centered around those restaurants highlighted as part of the campaign for you and me to eat local, and Taste of Eat Lafayette often introduced many of us to new places to eat in the city.

Well, it was brought to our attention by a local business that takes part in the campaign to "Eat Lafayette" that the popular event would not be happening this year, in 2025.

We contacted a source and they confirmed that the popular event at the Convention Center will not happen in 2025. While new plans are in the works, we were not given a reason why Taste of Eat Lafayette would not happen this year.

On a side note, we can't wait to see what the plans may be from Lafayette Travel, but as soon as they announce what's next for Lafayette and the local establishments we will certainly share their plans here.

LOOK: How Many of These Classic Summer Toys Do You Remember?

If you grew up in the Wild West of the '60s, '70s, or '80s, summer toys were a lifeline because many of us were locked outside (until the street lights came on). Inside was no place for a kid! Check out these classic summer toys that kept us cool, kept us busy, and always seemed to add a dash of danger.
