Tesla’s New Truck Design Turns Heads In Louisiana

Tesla's latest electric vehicle is getting rave reviews from buyers in Louisiana and across the country.

In Lafayette, you never know what kind of vehicles you will see. You may see a Lamborgini rolling down our roadways or an old truck that's been in someone's family for 40 years. It's another great thing about our area.

One vehicle people are talking about right now is the new kind that looks very different from standard vehicles. If you have seen this vehicle, you probably were pretty shocked like plenty of people on social media. The vehicles first came out in November of 2023.

Trying to capture a picture of this new type of vehicle on our local streets proved to be difficult, but finally, David Fontenot snapped a photo, and we appreciate him allowing us to share it with you. Some people love the design, and others are not so supportive.

While it's not brand new to the world because it debuted last year, the Tesla truck is relatively new to our Lafayette streets. You can't ignore this truck when you see it because the shape of it is startling.

Fontenot, when posting the photo on his Facebook page, wrote the line, "What in the aeronautical futuristic tarnation kind of car is this? It's very cool though!

It looks like some of the vehicles in the original version of the movie "Total Recall"! It's the Tesla Cybertruck! It looks like there is no way this giant behemoth could ever navigate some of the weird turns and small lanes on some of our roadways, but the back wheels also have turning capability. Car and Driver rates it an 8.5 on a 10-point scale.

It's an expensive truck, but what truck isn't pricey nowadays? The basic model retails for around $79,000, but people are paying much more for their Tesla Cybertrucks because they can be customized adding significantly to the ticket price. So far, Tesla has sold about 11,500 of the trucks.

And while the initial vehicles were mostly gray, you can now get them in six different colors:

The vehicle does have especially sharp edges according to reviewers, but it's spacious inside with tons of space. The driving is different from a regular steering wheel low, so you may experience a learning curve.

While there are many positive reviews there are some owners that do have some issues with the Tesla Cybertrucks. New York state trooper Joe Fay says he hates how the body of the vehicle shows handprints and fingerprints all over the car according to the DailyMail.

He adds that the inside can be difficult to clean, but his major issue is that it's so interesting to people that it takes him forever to finish chores because the vehicle is so eye-catching that he is constantly bombarded by people with tons of questions.
