
What I Think Some Acadiana Area High School Mascots Really Should Be
"As you walk down the aisle, graduaaaaation night. Will you remember to smile while I cry?" -- T.K. Hulin
That song will be played at numerous high school graduation ceremonies, parties, and celebrations over the next several weeks.
It's an emotional time that can be tough for the grads, parents, and family alike. But it's also a culmination of many years of hard work and a grand opportunity to be proud of the accomplishment.
Now, this story is not really about this momentous occasion, however. It was simply the inspiration for what you'll read and view next.
I recently was on the campus of my alma mater, Breaux Bridge High School, for my niece's ring ceremony. You know, the St. Martin Parish home of the Fighting Tigers.

Wait a minute, where do we have any tigers in Breaux Bridge? All I ever saw around the campus were crawfish ponds. Makes sense, since we are the CRAWFISH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!
So why in the heck wasn't the school mascot the Crawfish? Like our area university's Ragin' Cajuns mascot, this would be uniquely ours and quite memorable to the rest of the area and world, for that matter.
Because we are such a unique part of the country, administrators could have created a whole slew of these one-of-a-kind nicknames and mascots had they used a little creativity.

Change can always happen, though. So, I did a little brainstorming and came up with a whole new set of mascots for some Acadiana area high schools that I thought would benefit from a rebrand.
