Baton Rouge Is Getting Its First Cat Café

BATON ROUGE, La. - Cat lovers in Louisiana have something new to get excited about this fall.

A brand new cat café and adoption center is set to open in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, giving cat lovers the chance to sip a drink, spend time with adoptable cats, and maybe even head home with a new family member.

The new Cat Cafe' marks a major expansion for Cat Haven and is expected to help hundreds more cats find loving homes each year while creating a really fun destination for animal lovers across south Louisiana.

A Bigger Home For More Louisiana Cats

Cat Haven has announced that its new 7,200-square-foot adoption center will officially celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 530 Shadows Lane in Baton Rouge.

According to WAFB, the nonprofit says the larger facility will dramatically increase its ability to rescue, care for, and place cats into permanent homes. Visitors can stop by during the grand opening celebration from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. to tour the new building and meet plenty of adoptable cats.

Baton Rouge's First Cat Café Is Finally Here

While cat cafés have become popular in cities across the country, Baton Rouge is finally getting one of its own.

The café will allow guests to relax with coffee and snacks while spending time with friendly, adoptable cats in a laid back setting. Instead of looking through cages, visitors can interact with the animals in a more natural environment, making it easier to find the perfect match for adoption.

According to Cat Haven, the new building will feature:

A cage-free adoption area with room for up to 125 cats and kittens
More than 23 individual living spaces
A dedicated surgical suite
Separate medical evaluation and intake rooms
