1. Laura's II - 1904 W University Ave, Lafayette

If you know plate lunches in Lafayette, you know Laura’s II. The late Anthony Bourdain once said it was one of the best meals he had in Lafayette. The stuffed turkey wings are pretty famous around Acadiana, but everything on the menu is amazing. Owner Madonna Broussard was recently nominated for a James Beard Award, so that tells you how seriously delicious the plate lunches are at Laura's II.

2. Glenda’s Creole Kitchen - 3232 Main Hwy #31, Breaux Bridge

The menu shifts from day to day, with hot and fresh pans of homemade favorites like meatball stew, smothered sausage, and stuffed turkey wings. Anthony Bourdain once highlighted Glenda's as well,  praising the gravy as “the gravy of the Gods.”

3. Ton’s Drive-In - 101 W Main St, Broussard

Serving Lafayette since 1963, Ton’s Drive-Inn made history as Lafayette Parish's first drive-thru restaurant. From hamburger steak topped with grilled onions, to pork chops, to their mind blowing meatball stew, we understand why Ton's made this list.

4. Menard's Cajun Grocery - 7499 Cameron St, Duson

While you can grab a plate lunch during the week or barbecue on Sundays at Menard's, many people go specifically for their boudin and cracklins. The shrimp étouffée is another standout, and don’t expect small portions because they pile it on at Menard's Cajun Grocery.

5. Norbert Restaurant - 521 Ave C, Broussard

Opened in 1970 by John and Lilly Mae Norbert inside a former neighborhood grocery store, Norbert’s has become a Broussard institution. You'll find menu items like steak smothered in gravy over rice, smothered rabbit and fried chicken, or liver served at lunchtime, not just breakfast.
