We've certainly never met a plate lunch we didn't love anywhere in Acadiana, but can it actually be possible to crown which ones are the best. It's not a task we would want to take on, but newsbreak.com recently did.

If you know plate lunches in Lafayette, you know Laura’s II. The late Anthony Bourdain once said it was one of the best meals he had in Lafayette. The stuffed turkey wings are pretty famous around Acadiana, but everything on the menu is amazing. Owner Madonna Broussard was recently nominated for a James Beard Award, so that tells you how seriously delicious the plate lunches are at Laura's II.

2. Glenda’s Creole Kitchen - 3232 Main Hwy #31, Breaux Bridge

While you can grab a plate lunch during the week or barbecue on Sundays at Menard's, many people go specifically for their boudin and cracklins. The shrimp étouffée is another standout, and don’t expect small portions because they pile it on at Menard's Cajun Grocery.

5. Norbert Restaurant - 521 Ave C, Broussard

Opened in 1970 by John and Lilly Mae Norbert inside a former neighborhood grocery store, Norbert’s has become a Broussard institution. You'll find menu items like steak smothered in gravy over rice, smothered rabbit and fried chicken, or liver served at lunchtime, not just breakfast.
