Places That Have the Best Soft-Serve Ice Cream in Acadiana, as Voted on by You
With the temperatures touching all-time records in the Acadiana area, many of us are ready to do just about anything we can to stay cool.
Below are some of the things I've tried so far in that endeavor:
- Made extensive trips to Rouses and camped out in the beer cooler.
- Pretended I was a hockey referee and slid my way into Planet Ice for one period of a game...until I was caught.
- Visited my "aunt" at Ochsner General Hospital. She was in rooms 247, 321 and 519.
- Sat in the cold plunge at Red's.
For some of us, the heat is clearly getting to us. Exhibits A through D are above.
I could've tried something simpler and better -- like eating ice cream.
Nothing says "cool me down" like some creamy, cool soft-serve ice cream. And since they won't let me swim in the vats of deliciousness at Borden's (believe me, I've asked), I decided to find out some of the great places that serve up the best of the best here in Acadiana.

Our "Field Research"
We took to social media to learn about the businesses in the area that have the best-tasting soft-serve ice cream. The top answers were varied and included both locally owned shops as well as big national brands.
Below are some of the places you guys suggested we try for the best soft-serve ice cream in Acadiana. I think we should rent a party bus with cold A/C and swing by all of these establishments to do some further research.
