Chick-fil-A Location Implements Controversial New Rule
(KMDL-FM) A popular place for chicken lovers in Louisiana is Chick-fil-A. Granted, the franchise faces some pretty stiff competition in cities like New Orleans, Lafayette, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge because of another chicken chain, Popeyes.
I guess we do have Raising Cane's; we need to consider it as part of Louisiana's chicken wars, don't we? Needless to say, all three of these chicken places do very well in Louisiana. Oddly enough, the one chicken joint that seemed to get the idea of fast food chicken started, KFC, struggles in many Louisiana towns.

All of those establishments offer great choices and selections, but we are focusing this narrative on an aspect of operating a restaurant that most of us don't take into consideration. That is the "dining experience".
Does Chick-fil-A Have an Age Requirement to Dine In?
Most of us grab our chicken and go via the drive-thru. However, many patrons like the experience of dining in, and that's where one Chick-fil-A location has had to create a hard and fast rule.
This notice was posted on the social media site for a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Kettering, Ohio. Granted, that's a long way from Louisiana, but could this kind of crowd control crackdown be coming to other Chick-fil-A locations?
This Chick-fil-A has an issue with the behavior of some of its underage patrons. Therefore, any customer aged 17 or under must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. In this case, an adult is seen as someone who is 21 years of age or older.
The restaurant says the change is being made to "help keep Chick-fil-A family-friendly". However, there appears to be no evidence of what prompted the policy change. We can only speculate.
And no, this isn't the first time Chick-fil-A franchisees have enforced a policy that requires minor patrons to be accompanied by an adult if they want to dine inside the restaurant. The restaurant that implemented that change in 2023 was located in Pennsylvania.
What Other Restaurants Have Established Age Requirements for Customers?
I can understand why Waffle House made the decision to close its dining rooms in the overnight hours of Friday and Saturday. The opportunity for "mischief" among that clientele was just a little too high for even Waffle House standards, but I can't imagine such unsavory behavior inside a Chick-fil-A, can you?
If you were going to implement an unaccompanied minor rule at a local restaurant, which establishment do you think would benefit from such a policy change? You can drop your comments on our App.

And remember, this policy change is not in effect at any Louisiana locations yet. Hopefully, our standard of decorum will keep us off the Chick-fil-A bad behavior list. But then again, we could always go to Popeyes to argue, couldn't we?
