Dollar Tree Announces Recall of Popular Snack Items in Louisiana

You can find them in Abbeville, Louisiana, and Cut Off too. They are just as likely to be found in Baton Rouge as they are in Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans, or even Deridder. I am speaking of the popular discount store chain Dollar Tree. As of last month, the Dollar Tree footprint included some 445 locations in multiple cities and towns in Louisiana.

And while the "dollar store" landscape hasn't been exactly friendly lately. With Family Dollar announcing the closing of some 1,000 stores nationwide. Dollar General has generated their share of headlines too. The news on Dollar General concerns all 615 Louisiana locations of that brand and if you're a shopper at DG, you'll want to know what's changing because it will eventually affect every location in the state.

Meanwhile, the recall bug has hit Dollar Tree. The store was made aware of a recall announced by Planter's Nuts over possible listeria concerns. The recall announcement was made by Planter's parent company Hormel. Who knew the same folks that made SPAM also packed Planter's peanuts? Well, now you do.

The products in question were shipped to Publix Supermarkets in the southeastern United States as well as Dollar Tree stores in the south. The products in question are Planters Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts and Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts.

The recalled products have the following label information:

Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts in 8.75-ounce cans with a best-by date of “05APR26” and Honey Roasted Nuts in 4-ounce bags with a best-by date of “04 11 25.

If you find you have one of these products you may return it to the store for a refund, or you can just throw them away. The concern with the products is Listeria. The disease is most dangerous to small children, the elderly, pregnant women, or those with compromised immune systems.
