New Kool-Aid Flavor Honoring New Orleans Saints Draft Pick

With a name like Kool-Aid McKinstry, you just knew there was going to be an opportunity to team up with one of America's all-time great beverages.

And a collab of sorts is happening soon for one of the newest members of the New Orleans Saints.

Ohh, yeah!!!

Kool-Aid, self-described as the "All-American beverage," will be unleashing its first limited-edition flavor in three years, in the next few days.

The new flavor is, of course, paying homage to McKinstry, the All-America Crimson Tide cornerback who was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the NFL Draft on Friday.

He loves him some Kool-Aid

Evidently, Black Cherry is McKinstry's favorite flavor of Kool-Aid.

This isn't new territory for McKinstry either. He had an NIL deal with Kool-Aid at one point during his Alabama career.

The folks at Kool-Aid were ready to go with this idea before the NFL Draft. The Kool-Aid Man "crashed" McKinstry's draft party on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama.

How did he get that nickname?

First off, McKinstry's given first name is Ga'Quincy. But he was given his nickname as a baby by his grandmother.

She thought that his smile looked like that of the Kool-Aid Man mascot.

Now a member of the New Orleans Saints

McKinstry was one of seven players selected by the Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The team traded up four picks to select McKinstry with the 41st overall pick in the 2nd round.

He was one of the nation's top corners who also contributed as a punt returner for the Crimson Tide.

McKinstry was selected as a first-team All-American by the Associated Press and The Sporting News in addition to being selected as a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, presented each year to the nation's top defensive back.

In 2023, McKinstry broke up seven passes to go with 32 tackles, including two for loss (-4 yards) as well as returned 14 punts for 86 combined yards with a long gain of 33.
