Local Dive Bar Closes Doors in Scott, Sbarro Makes Comeback at New Lafayette Location
In this week's episode of "As the Lafayette Business World Turns," we have one bit of bad news but also some good info to share.
First, the bad.
Cheers and Beers, a bit of a dive bar located on Cameron Street in Scott, Louisiana, has made the sad announcement that it has shut its doors.
According to a recent post on Facebook, the bar and live music venue's last night of operation was this past Friday, January 31st.
While we're not exactly sure when the bar began operating as Cheers and Beers, we do recall that as recently as late 2021, it was called Bayou Blues & Comedy Club.
We wish the owners the best of luck in their future endeavors and hopefully, someone will come in and re-open this once-fun establishment.
On the positive news front, Sbarro is now open inside the TA Travel Center at 1701 N. University Avenue in Lafayette just north of I-10. This is in the former Boston Market space.
The Acadiana Advocate reported in November 2024 that a permit for an interior remodel for the space was pulled in Lafayette and was estimated to cost $350,000.
This marks the return of Sbarro to the market, having once been a standard at the Acadiana Mall food court.

Sbarro is a chain that dates back to its roots in Brooklyn, New York, which began in 1956 by Carmela and Gennaro Sbarro.
Sbarro features great pasta, salads, and of course, the XL New York slice pizza.
