COUSHATTA, La. (KMDL-FM) - Northwest Louisiana experienced its second and third earthquakes in the past week, with one on Sunday evening and a stronger one on Monday morning.
Two More Earthquakes Reported Near Coushatta
The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 2.5 quake around 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, near Coushatta, which is in rural Red River Parish.

Last Week’s Powerful Louisiana Quake
You may recall on Thursday of last week, the same area experienced a stronger magnitude 4.9 earthquake. That is one of the strongest inland earthquakes ever recorded in Louisiana. The tremor was felt as far away as Shreveport.
Details on the Latest Earthquake
The second quake appears to have hit very close to the first quake. The USGS reports the quake registered a magnitude of 4.0 just west of the neighborhood of Carroll along the Red River. According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles.
