Louisiana Lottery Confirms $150,000 Powerball Win Wednesday
The summer is starting to sizzle across Louisiana and for players with the Louisiana Lottery summertime is the best time to win money. A quick perusal of the Louisiana Lottery winners page will show you the winners come from everywhere, Scott, Louisiana, Opelousas, Louisiana, Lafayette, Louisiana and a lot of other communities, large and small, across the state.
Last night, Wednesday night, meant three big drawings for Louisiana Lottery players. There was a drawing for the Lotto jackpot. That drawing did not produce a jackpot winner. There was also a drawing in the Easy 5 game. That game didn't produce a jackpot winner either. Then there was the Powerball drawing on Wednesday.
And while we don't have a Powerball jackpot winner to tell you about, we do have 150,000 spendable reasons for you to check your Powerball ticket if you played in Louisiana last night.
Here's how the Powerball drawing for June 5, 2024 played out.
Before the ping pong balls were released from the hopper Powerball game officials had estimated the game's jackpot to be $187 million for annuity payout and $87 million for the lump sum option. Here are the numbers that were drawn.

Use those numbers as a reference but make sure you verify your ticket by checking it against the Official Powerball Website or the Official Louisiana Lottery Website. Those sites allow you to enter multiple tickets if you played more than one set of numbers. They also have information on exactly what your prize is and the best way to claim those winnings.
As we mentioned the $187 million jackpot was not claimed and there was one ticket sold across the Powerball footprint that earned a million dollars with a Match 5 ticket. With the exception of that Match 5 Million, the Louisiana winner worth $150,000 was one of the game's largest prizes from Wednesday's drawing.
Where Was the $150,000 Louisiana Powerball Winner Sold?
As is the case in most big Powerball wins the big money winner was sold in South Louisiana. If you weren't aware almost two-thirds of all lottery prize-winning tickets, at least for the draw games, come from within 50 miles either side of Interstate 10, and Wednesday's winner was no exception. Does the place pictured below look familiar to you?
That is the Houma Truck Plaza in Houma, Louisiana and if you visit them later today you'll probably see a sign in their window proclaiming they sold a big-money Powerball ticket. That's because they did.
The Louisiana Lottery confirms the $150,000 winner matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball for a prize of $50,000. The ticket also added the Powerplay option which in last night's game was "x3". And that's how you get a $150,000 Powerball winner in Louisiana.
The next drawing in the Powerball will come up on Saturday night as well as drawing in the Lotto game and the Easy 5 game. Powerball will have an estimated top prize of $206 million on Saturday, Lotto's jackpot will be an estimated $1.075 million, and Easy 5 players will attempt to earn a top prize of $80,000
Sure it's fun to talk about and write about big wins in the lottery but the truth is most tickets sold for these games are not winners.
