(Baton Rouge, LA) The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that a Louisiana-sold ticket for Saturday's Powerball game was a big winner. The game's jackpot was estimated to be $192.4 million when the drawing took place last night.

The Powerball multi-state lottery jackpot has been building toward that amount since May 31st of this year. That's when a single ticket that was sold in California claimed the game's top prize of just over $204 million.

How Do You Play Powerball?

In order to claim Powerball's top prize, a ticket holder must match five numbers between 1 and 69. Those are the "white ball" numbers. The ticket holder must also match the "red ball" or Powerball number. The Powerball numbers range between 1 and 26. There are other prizes available for other number match scenarios.

That's not the only way a player can recoup their $2 or $3 investment. $2 is the price for a regular ticket, and $3 is the cost of a ticket with the Power Play option included. The game boasts nine ways to win, so let's see if your ticket exploited one of those nine ways in a big way on Saturday.

Here's how the drawing for July 5, 2025, played out.

We have learned through our sources at Powerball that no ticket sold across the game's footprint matched the numbers needed to win the game's top prize. However, two tickets sold for Saturday night did match all five of the white balls but not the Powerball.

By rule, a match of all five white balls earns a prize of one million dollars. If the ticket holder has invoked the Power Play option that one million dollar prize is doubled. There were two tickets sold for Saturday's Powerball that earned a Match 5 Million prize. One of those tickets was sold in Wisconsin, and the other ticket was sold in Louisiana.

What Were The Powerball Numbers for July 5, 2025?

But the $2 million winner wasn't the only big prize handed out in Saturday's Powerball game. Here are the numbers we saw roll out of the hopper so you can check your tickets.

01   28   34   50   58   Powerball 08   Power Play x2

The data released by the Louisiana Lottery suggests that just over 4,000 tickets sold in the state earned a prize of some kind last night. Another 2,000-plus winners earned a prize that was doubled because they opted for the Power Play. So it was a lucky night in Louisiana for Powerball players.

As of this report, we do not have confirmed point-of-purchase details for where the $2 million winner was sold in Louisiana. The Louisiana Lottery normally provides that information, so we will update this narrative when that information is made available.

The Lotto Game also held a drawing on Saturday night, but there was no jackpot winner. So, that game's top prize will continue to grow. It is estimated to be $1.125 million when they draw again on Wednesday.

Also drawing again on Wednesday is the Easy 5 game. That game did not get a jackpot winner on Saturday night, so the Easy 5 top prize will climb to an estimated $110,000.  If you believe in the power of math and probability, then you should expect a winner in both Easy 5 and Lotto by the time next Sunday rolls around. At least, that's what our algorithms are suggesting.

However, we have learned that Lady Luck doesn't care about math and statistics; she does what she wants to do, and I bet she laughs at us every time we try to predict her next move. Lady Luck is more fickle than a five-year-old at an all-you-can-eat buffet. All these choices, and we're still getting chicken nuggets.
