Louisiana Woman Held on $18 Million Bond Over Fraudulent Door Dash Orders

A Hammond, Louisiana woman is facing a whopping $18 million bond after being arrested for allegedly charging thousands of dollars of food and goods using Door Dash to an elderly family member's debit card.

31-year-old Maili Morris of Hammond, Louisiana was arrested by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office was arrested February 16 after an extensive investigation for financial crimes against the elderly according to WWLTV.com.

Chief Jimmy Travis tells WWLTV.com Morris was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on 816 criminal counts "including 136 counts each of Identity theft, bank fraud, computer fraud, felony theft, access device fraud, and exploitation of the infirmed."

Some of the alleged fraudulent charges Morris made using her elderly Aunt's debit card include $12,000 in food orders between November 2022 and January 2023 from various Hammond restaurants.

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office says Morris also used her aunt's debit card to buy goods through Door Dash from Walgreens, CVS, Big Lots, Dollar General, Pet Smart, and more.

"The sheriff's office said its financial crimes unit discovered Morris made the purchases using her 73-year-old aunt's debit card which she had linked to her personal Doordash account.

Investigators say the elderly woman discovered that her bank account had been withdrawn by several hundred dollars and discovered the charges to Doordash."

Morris has remained jailed since her arrest and is being held at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on a bond of $18,360,000.
