What Is Pitch-A-Friend?

A 'Pitch-a-Friend' event is a fun, social, usually light-hearted gathering designed to help people make new romantic or social connections. Instead of pitching yourself, you pitch someone you know, a friend, coworker, sibling, or acquaintance, and talk about why they’re awesome, interesting, date-worthy, and worth getting to know.

According to theadvocate.com, the whole 'Pitch-a-Friend' phenomenon began in Philadelphia in 2022.

Think of it like Shark Tank, but for dating.

How Does Pitch-A-Friend Work?

We all have that one single friend that we know is an awesome person, but just seem to be unlucky in relationships. A 'Pitch-a-Friend' event is our chance to tell other singles just how great this person is and why they should consider going on a date with them.

The structure is simple — people sign up to give 3 to 5 minute presentations on their single friends, in the hopes of sparking genuine connections between people who might not otherwise meet.
Pitches must be submitted beforehand and follow event guidelines, which include keeping pitches positive, clean and short.

There is a $5 commitment fee to submit your pitch ahead of the event.

So far, 'Pitch-a-Friend' events have been held at The Tap Room and Black Bull sports bar in Youngsville, and the next 'Pitch-a-Friend' event is scheduled for November 19 at Artmosphere in Lafayette beginning at 7pm.
