(KMDL-FM) The United States Postal Service is offering a "heads up" for Texas and Louisiana postal patrons ahead of major changes planned by the agency. Like many businesses across the country, the current economic conditions have warranted some belt-tightening and budget scrutiny among the folks that are tasked with bringing us letters, magazines, pizza coupons, and bills.

One of the ways the Post Office will be increasing cash flow is by raising the cost of Forever Stamps. Forever Stamps allow postal patrons the ability to buy postage stamps at today's price and use them later when the price of mailing a first-class piece of mail has gone up.

How Much Do Forever Stamps Cost at the Post Office?

The next Forever Stamp rate increase is planned for July 13th. On that day, the cost of the stamps will rise from 73 cents to 78 cents. A nickel might not sound like much, but if your business mails a lot of correspondence, that five cents could add up quickly.

These other services from the Post Office are set to increase as well:

Letters (metered 1 ounce) – From 69 cents to 74 cents
Domestic postcards – 56 cents to 62 cents
International postcards- $1.65 to $1.70

When Was the Last Time the Price of Stamps Went Up?

If you were wondering when the last time the USPS raised the price of Forever Stamps, that was about one year ago on July 24, 2024. At that time, the price went from .68 cents to the current price of .73 cents. But remember, on July 13, 2025, that price will rise from .73 cents to .78 cents.

Wow, I still remember as a kid when my Mom got upset at the Post Office because they raised the cost of a stamp to .08 cents. That was back in 1971. The price then jumped to a dime in 1974, and here we are today, some 50-plus years later, and the price has increased almost tenfold since way back when.

Speaking of way back when, if you remember those stamps, I bet you remember this, too.
