SLEMCO Customers Will See a Smaller Bill Starting in July

You are about to read a sentence that may be hard to comprehend in the year 2024:

If you are a SLEMCO customer, you will be saving money starting with your next bill. 

Wait, what?!

Yes, this is a true statement. SLEMCO customers will be seeing a surcharge going away in July.

THE SKINNY ON YOUR SAVINGS

SLEMCO took to Facebook to let its customers know that the 24-month storm rider for Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida that had been a part of their bills since August of 2022 is going away starting with the July 2024 billing period.

While the savings won't be huge, we'll take good news whenever we can get it.

HOW MUCH WILL SLEMCO CUSTOMERS SAVE?

Customers will save at least $1.90 per month if their home uses 1,500 kWh per month.

The cost decrease goes up to $3.75 for a home that uses about 3,000 kWh per month and even more for homes that use more electricity than that.

COULD THESE SURCHARGES RETURN?

Unfortunately, we can't predict the future and neither can the folks at SLEMCO. If we get more storms, the storm rider charges could return.

But let's hope not. And for now, we'll be thankful for the few extra dollars in our pockets.
