Carencro will soon have new flavors coming to town. Barry’s 1965, a new eatery by Barry and Rhonda Reeves, is taking over the space where Swanky’s used to be at 108 E St Peter Street. Barry and Rhonda are coming out of retirement to bring a fresh dining concept to town, and the buzz is already building on social media.

Earlier this month, Swanky’s officially closed its doors, sharing a heartfelt goodbye and thanking the community for years of support. They left the place open for a new chapter, hoping it would continue as a local gathering spot. That’s exactly what’s happening now, with the Reeves family stepping in to take the reins.

Barry’s 1965 has been keeping everyone updated on Facebook, where Barry Reeves shared his appreciation for all the support they've received so far. Over 1,000 people have reached out with encouragement, showing just how excited everyone is.

Barry and Rhonda are busy with renovations, updating the kitchen, and working on a menu they hope to start sampling soon. They’re also looking to hire some kitchen help and inviting locals to apply.

Coastal Cleaning LLC recently helped prep the building with a fresh wash, giving the place a new shine. This “glow-up” has set the stage for Barry’s 1965 to move in and create a new home for locals to enjoy.

Details on the hours and menu are still being worked out, but Carencro is clearly ready to welcome Barry’s 1965 to the community. With Barry and Rhonda’s experience and love for serving, this new spot is sure to be a great place for locals to come together for good food and good times.
