A South Louisiana fire department has issued an urgent warning to those in the area, and it's worth something sharing with as many people as possible.

Our area has not received much rain in recent weeks, so everything is very dry. Because of a cold front, we've seen stronger winds in the last few days, which makes burning anything hazardous.

Local fire departments say that they have responded to more grass or brush fires in recent days because of the dry conditions in Acadiana and now they're asking you to please not burn anything until we get more rain in the region.

The Maurice Volunteer Fire Department recently posted a great reminder on social media, and they too are asking you to not burn anything because of the current conditions in the area. In a photo that they included in their post, you can see a large portion of a field burnt, which can pose a danger to any nearby structures.

Some parishes across Louisiana have issued burn bans and local authorities are looking for those who may violate the ban.

Now, if you're saying that you've seen farmers burn fields across Acadiana, agriculture is often exempt from burn bans, as long as farmers plow a perimeter around the field they are burning.

So, until we get some rain in the area, which may not be for another week, hold off on burning anything so that you don't put your property or someone else's belongings in danger.
