Flashing Yellow Arrow Lights to be Installed Across Lafayette Roadways

(Lafayette, La.) — If you've ever driven up to a major intersection and had to wait for a green arrow to make a left turn, your wait time may shorten in the near future. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) announced that work is starting on a $1,183,554.08 project to install Flashing Yellow Arrow Signal Improvements at various intersections in Lafayette Parish. This will allow drivers to make left turns when no oncoming traffic is present instead of having to wait for a full green light, potentially shaving off a few minutes on your daily commute. These intersections include:

• Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Curran Ln
• Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Dulles Dr
• Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Eraste Landry Rd
• Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Guilbeau Rd
• Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Westmark Blvd

• Cajundome Blvd and Eraste Landry Rd
• Cajundome Blvd and Reinhardt Dr
• Cajundome Blvd and W Congress St

• Camellia Blvd and Academy Rd/Mt Vernon Dr
• Camellia Blvd and Cambridge Dr
• Camellia Blvd and Settlers Trace Blvd
• Camellia Blvd and Silverstone Rd

• Kaliste Saloom and E Bayou Pkwy
• Kaliste Saloom Rd and Camelia Blvd
• Kaliste Saloom Rd and E Martial Ave
• Kaliste Saloom Rd and Hugh Wallis Rd
• Kaliste Saloom Rd and N Beadle Rd
• Kaliste Saloom Rd and River Ranch Blvd/Long Plantation Rd

Most work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. with some work during night and weekends, weather permitting.

Intermittent alternating lane closures will be necessary to perform the work in each area; therefore, drivers should expect some delays.

The project is estimated for completion in November 2024. Hopefully, this will help alleviate traffic in the future. On a related note, be careful around the following intersections, labeled by drivers as some of the most dangerous in Acadiana.
