Allegations against a local Acadiana surgeon have sparked an investigation after multiple women came forward on Facebook, claiming they were sexually assaulted during medical examinations. KLFY News 10 reported on the developing story.

Allegations Detailed by Former Patients

Bethany Palmer, one of the alleged victims, said she filed a police report in 2022 after being referred to the surgeon, Dr. Bahmen “Ben” Sabbaghian, for a procedure. Palmer claimed the surgeon inappropriately touched her during the examination. Frustrated by a lack of action, Palmer took her story to Facebook, which led to other women coming forward with similar allegations.

One anonymous alleged victim stated that her experience occurred in the presence of her minor child. She reported the incident to local authorities and the Louisiana State Medical Board, emphasizing the importance of teaching her daughter to report inappropriate behavior.

The women have now formed a support network, vowing to pursue justice together. “We’re going to stand together, fight, and get justice,” Palmer said.

The Surgeon’s Response

Attorney Kevin Stockstill, representing Dr. Sabbaghian, refuted the claims, stating that examinations were conducted properly and with a witness present. “To come forward and accuse him of a sexual battery or sexual assault is just outright false,” Stockstill said, adding that the District Attorney’s Office dismissed the allegations as unfounded.

The Louisiana State Medical Board is actively investigating the claims, and both Sabbaghian and his attorney have pledged full cooperation.

Community Reactions

Reactions to the allegations have been mixed on social media. The story gained significant traction following a KLFY News 10 Facebook post, where users shared varied opinions on the accusations.
