LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) – Lafayette High School has achieved a significant milestone, earning a Bronze distinction on the 2024 AP® School Honor Roll, as announced by the College Board.

This prestigious recognition highlights schools that are expanding Advanced Placement® (AP®) opportunities for students while maintaining high performance on AP exams, promoting a strong college-going culture, and preparing students for higher education.

What Does the AP School Honor Roll Bronze Distinction Mean?

The AP School Honor Roll is an annual recognition from the College Board that honors schools based on their commitment to college readiness and student success in AP courses. Schools qualify for this honor by demonstrating:

Lafayette High’s AP Success: Impressive Results in 2024

Lafayette High School had over 340 students participate in AP exams in 2024, with 23 different AP subjects offered. Out of the 512 AP exams taken, 68% of the scores were high enough to earn students college credits in their respective subjects. These results reflect both the dedication of students and the commitment of teachers and administrators to provide a robust AP program that prepares students for college-level coursework.


Leadership Praise for Students and Staff

LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. expressed pride in the students' accomplishments and praised the teachers for their dedication. “I couldn't be prouder of our students for such an incredible achievement! Their success speaks volumes about the dedication of our teachers and the quality of education at LPSS,” Touchet said. “We are committed to finding even more opportunities to help students reach their highest potential. A huge thank you to Principal Layne Edelman and her outstanding team of educators for inspiring students to aim high and excel."
