Traffic Alert: Two Separate Lafayette Construction Projects Result in Road Closures in the City
A couple of infrastructure projects in Lafayette, Louisiana, which start today, could affect your travel around the city.
Lafayette Consolidated Government's Traffic, Roads, and Bridges Department has announced that it is starting a project on Beau Pre Road to replace a bridge and another on General Mouton Avenue to repair sewer infrastructure.
Bridge Replacement on Beau Pre Road
The bridge on Beau Pre Road, located approximately 0.60 miles northeast of W. Pinhook Road, will be fully replaced.
The closure begins on Monday, March 10, 2025, and is expected to take approximately 10 months to complete.
The project involves the removal of the existing three-span concrete bridge with timber piles and the construction of a new three-span cast-in-place concrete bridge with concrete piles.
The replacement is necessary due to deteriorating timber piles and severe erosion at the bridge abutments.
