The community of Vidrine, Louisiana watched as a favorite Cajun restaurant went up in flames early Saturday morning.

Just north of Mamou, the Crawfish Barn burned to the ground as fire ripped through the tin building that so many loved visiting with friends and family.

Firefighters from Mamou, VIdrine, WC Read, and Ville Platte responded to the inferno as temperatures dipped below freezing and they remained on the scene for several hours, battling the blaze.

Water pressure remained consistent as firefighters fought the blaze, but due to the size of the fire, firefighters had to shuttle water from various locations throughout the community.

For many, The Crawfish Barn was a place to not only eat a delicious meal, but it was also a place where friends gathered and events were held.

As someone posted on social media hours after the fire started, a huge part of Evangeline Parish's community is no longer there, and it will be missed.

This building was built in 1919 and was over 5,000 square feet. Seth LaHaye posted an interesting story about the building, which was once an actual barn, and he notes that family members believe the building was haunted. You can read his social media post HERE

No injuries were reported in the blaze, and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire.

Here are more photos from the scene in Vidrine.
