Louisiana Deputy Arrested for Domestic Abuse, Immediately Fired From Department
A deputy who served for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office is out of a job after a domestic disturbance incident in the early hours of September 23rd.
The deputy, 55-year-old Kelvin Higginbotham, was arrested on charges of domestic abuse and illegal use of a weapon.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office said they received a complaint about a domestic disturbance in the Denham Springs area just after midnight on Monday.
Once on scene, authorities learned that one round was fired from a personal weapon inside of a home. They added that no one was hurt, but Higginbotham was taken into custody.
Higginbotham was also immediately terminated from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office.
"Our LPSO DV Division has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for ALL," said Sheriff Jason Ard.
Higginbotham served in a part-time capacity with the LPSO Marine Division since May of 2023. He also served as a Reserve Deputy.
As of this time, he remains in the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
