Louisiana Hit-And-Run Arrest Happens After Anonymous Tips
(KPEL-FM) - Louisiana State Police officials have announced the arrest of a man who they say was the person responsible for a hit-and-run crash that led a pedestrian to be severely injured.
It took a few days, but a suspect in the case was arrested.

What Details Are Known About The Hit-And-Run?
According to Louisiana Trooper Shelby Mayfield with the Public Affairs Section of Louisiana State Police, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at around 9 o'clock on the evening of Saturday, March 29, and the driver fled.
The pedestrian was severely injured after being struck by the vehicle.
At that point, Troopers put out a call to anyone in the area who might know anything to contact them so the driver could be identified.

What Did The Call For Tips Produce?
According to Mayfield, the call to the public to give them information anonymously about the hit-and-run proved fruitful.
On Tuesday, April 1, troopers received two anonymous tips detailing the person responsible for hitting the pedestrian.
Both of the tips that came in identified Brandon Chenevert as the person driving.
What Did Investigators Find?
Troopers were able to get a search warrant, which led them to the vehicle, which had damage.
In addition to seeing damage, officials say narcotics and firearms were also found on Chenevert's property.
The 30-year-old Denham Springs man was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on the following charges:
- Felony Hit and Run
- Negligent Injuring
- Obstruction of Justice
- Failure to Seek Assistance
- Possession of Schedule I with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of Schedule III
- Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
The investigation into the crash on Louisiana Highway 1023 is active, according to investigators. Trooper Mayfield says Louisiana State Police officials appreciate the tipsters helping them identify a suspect in the case.
