By some miracle, a toddler in the home was not injured in the explosion and is currently being cared for by family members. Louisiana State Fire Marshal Bryan J. Adams told WBRZ that the explosion happened sometime Saturday morning. Investigators are still working to identify the cause of the blast that destroyed the home.

When firefighters arrived, the house was burning, according to WBRZ. The explosion was so severe that it completely leveled the home and threw debris in all directions, 'seriously damaging' vehicles and a nearby building.

Ragley, Louisiana, Residents told KPLC-TV that the explosion caused power outages and 'felt like an earthquake,' even knocking items off the countertops of their homes nearby.

Alabama Community Mourning Loss Of Deuce Barrere

The tragedy that occurred near Lake Charles, Louisiana has reached his school family back in Theodore, Alabama. Sunday evening, the 16-year-old's family and friends gathered on Dauphin Island to pay tribute to Deuce Barrere where he was described as 'the life of the party'.

His girlfriend shared heartfelt words with KPLC-TV.

"If Deuce was around, the only time that he would be upset is when he was upset because his room was dirty. If that room was dirty, you gotta get out. You gotta get out and he has to clean that room. I even got kicked out and I was the one who helped him clean the room. There was never a dull moment with Deuce. When I was upset, he always made sure it was good before I left, and he always made sure everybody here was happy and he loved cheer and I feel so bad that he couldn’t go to Springhill to cheer. That really breaks my heart and he just loved everybody so much, and he made sure everybody knew he loved them,

His best friend, Jaedin Wilson, and another close friend Brooklyn also shared heartfelt messages and memories with the new outlet.

"I will say- he was probably the best person I’ve ever had in my life. He really showed me what a best friend can truly mean to you. He never once made me feel- I don’t mean to get deep- but he made sure I stayed here, if we’re really going to be honest. The way he was, the personality he had, he made sure that I stayed down, that I was good, and that I always had a home, and I really respect him for that."

"The first time I met him, I knew he was going to be my best friend till the end. The last text message I received from him was ‘Brooklyn, I want to change my life around and you inspired me to come to church and I’m going to come to church with you this Sunday and it breaks my heart knowing that he will never get to go to church with me.

A gofundme has been set up, you can find it here.

As most have already heard or seen shared, Katherine, Brooklyn and Deuce were involved in a terrible tragedy and have a long road ahead. Katherine and Brooklyn medically have a long road to recovery as they both suffered multiple devastating injuries, Deuce sadly didn’t make it and this family will need the community now more than ever in all aspects, but definitely financially as they prepare for the road ahead.

We are raising funds to help cover the medical bills, funeral expenses, and the regular day to day as we do not know when Katherine will be able to return to work. Please continue to pray for Hyrum, Katherine and Brooklyn and respect the family during this time as this is a devastating loss and reality they never could’ve imagined happening, thank you for the support!
