Plenty of people in Lafayette jumped on social media Wednesday night to share videos of lights, sirens, and even a drone in the 3800 block of Moss Street, which is right near Pont Des Mouton Street, because they could tell something big was happening with local law enforcement; they weren't wrong.

Sergeant Robin Green, spokeswoman for the Lafayette Police Department, explains that a traffic stop in that area led to the arrest of several people, along with the confiscating of drugs.

At around 11:30 Wednesday night, members of the Lafayette Police Department's Tactical Narcotics Team stopped a vehicle that had four people inside of it. Green says one person fled from the car while the other three stayed at the scene. They are still working to apprehend the fourth person.

    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)
    • Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug (Promethazine)
    • Illegal Window Tint
    • Failure to Possess a Driver's License
    • Improper Display of License Plate
    • Lafayette City Warrant
  • Darien Deon Mitchell, 27, of New Iberia, LA:
    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)
    • Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug (Promethazine)
    • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
    • Lafayette City Warrant
  • Ashlee Miller Jr., 23, of New Iberia, LA:
    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)
    • Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
    • Possession with Intent to Distribute Legend Drug (Promethazine)

Green says this is what law enforcement seized:

  • 40.4 grams of marijuana (DEA street value: $808)
  • 440 mL of Promethazine Hydrochloride (DEA street value: $8,800)
  • One AM-15 Rifle Pistol
