Mall of Louisiana Announces Strict Policy for Minors
The Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge has announced a new attendance policy for those under 18 years old.
Officials with the mall recently announced that beginning Friday, June 28, a Parental Guidance Required (PGR) program will be in effect at the Mall of Louisiana on Fridays and Saturdays after 4 p.m.
That means anyone under 18 will have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to shop in the mall, during the designated times above.
Mall security will be stationed through the facility to check IDs of those who appear to be under 18 and wristbands will be added to those who meet requirements to shop after 4 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The senior GM of the mall says, "We strive to provide a safe shopping experience for every visitor and are constantly evaluating our comprehensive security program to meet the changing needs of our customers and merchants. Therefore, we will be implementing our Parental Guidance Required (PGR) program.”
For adults, who are 21 years old or older, they can only accompany up to four minors during their visit after 4 pm and those underage must remain with their adult supervision during the entire time they are in the mall.
The Mall of Louisiana says that they will begin announcements at 3 pm on Fridays and Saturdays warning those underage that they only have an hour left to shop alone.
If an underage person is found to be inside after 4 pm, they will be escorted out of the mall.
As for those working in the mall, that are under 18, they will be given their wristband so that mall security can identify them.
This latest security measure in the Mall of Louisiana is likely an effort to gain control of teens who may be inside during later hours causing trouble.
We've seen numerous videos through the years of teens causing trouble in the mall, and this latest measure seems to be an effort to avoid future disturbances.
