Multiple police agencies responded to the Acadiana Mall in Lafayette, Louisiana on Thursday night after there were reports of someone with a gun in the mall.

Luckily no shots were fired in the mall, and no one was injured in the scary incident, but Lafayette Police did arrest a former employee from the mall.

38-year-old Gregory Steven was arrested at his home in Lafayette and charged with trespassing and terrorizing. He was also arrested on an active warrant for possession of a stolen firearm.

When police arrived at the mall in Lafayette they were forced to evacuate the building and secure the building while patrons were still in the mall.

A video posted on X shows officers entering the mall with rifles drawn as people ran out of the mall.

Some in the mall said shots were fired, but LPD said that there were no shots fired. The noise that some may have thought were shots could have been doors slamming shut or merchandise falling to the floor as people attempted to flee the mall.

Here you'll see officers running towards a potential danger while others run for safety. The response from the various agencies was tremendous as officers converged on the property in Lafayette in minutes.
