Puppies Senslessly Slaughtered On Side of Louisiana Highway, Cash Reward For Info
MANSURA, La. (KPEL News) - It's safe to say that most folks here in Louisiana are pet lovers. Whether it's cats or dogs, our hearts bleed for our furry friends. That is what makes this story out of Avoyelles Parish all the more horrific.
Humane Society of Louisiana Needs Your Help
The Humane Society of Louisiana (HSLA) is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver who threw three German Shepherd puppies out of the window in Avoyelles Parish, killing all three.
HSLA Director Jeff Dorson told the Louisiana Radio Network that on Tuesday, Oct. 8 around 10:30 p.m. a driver thought he saw someone throwing trash from a pickup truck on Highway 1185 between Mansula and Morauville. "As he got closer he realized it wasn't trash, there were three small German Shepherd puppies," Dorson said.

The Puppies' Deaths Were Horrific and Painful
"One hit the pavement and died, the other two were breathing, but they had suffered concussions as well by hitting high-impact on the pavement," Dorson added. Those two puppies ended up dying of their injuries at a veterinarian’s office.
An article on WDSU.com reported that on Thursday, the same man saw a female Shepherd-Husky who looked to be the puppies mother and believed she was also abandoned or thrown out of the same vehicle.
It Didn't Have to Happen This Way
Senslessly killing the puppies in such an inhumane way was completely unnecessary according to Dorson, "They could have done it so much more responsibly. They could have put a plea out on social media, could have not thrown them to their deaths, which is exactly what they intended to do."
Dorson emphasized the need for getting your animals fixed.to prevent accidental litters. He said if you do have an accidental litter "call a rescue group, call the nearest shelter, or post on Facebook".
