Standoff With Wanted Fugitive Underway in Abbeville After Marshals Attempt To Serve Warrant
UPDATE
News 15 reported that there were gunshots and broken glass as officers called for the man barricaded inside the mobile home to come out.
He eventually surrendered after midnight to the US Marshals and Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.
There are no details on the warrant or what crimes the suspect is wanted for at this time.
US Marshals attempted to serve a warrant Wednesday afternoon in Abbeville when a standoff unfolded.
News 15 reported that the standoff is underway and is sending a news crew to gather more information at the scene. Law enforcement says the standoff began around 2 pm Wednesday on Schlessinger Street near Maude Avenue in Abbeville.
The man barricaded himself inside a mobile home when the feds attempted to serve the warrant. The US Marshals Service and Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office are on scene handling the situation.
