Superdome in Louisiana Goes Dark to Honor New Orleans Icon
If you've ever been near the Ceasars Superdome at night you know that it is lit up well, and is gorgeous, but the dome in New Orleans recently went dark for one night.
It was announced a few weeks ago that WWL Louisiana anchor Eric Paulsen died after a battle with cancer and his presence in the Superdome will be missed.
The news anchor was not only an icon in the dome, he was an icon in the community and to honor him, the staff at the Superdome elected to turn off the exterior lights for one night to honor Eric.
The social media team at the Ceasars Superdome posted the following statement on its decision to go dark:
"Today, we remember and honor Eric Paulsen, a beloved member of our community and a cherished friend. Paulsen was a fixture on New Orleans television for more than 40 years. Eric's warmth, kindness, and tireless dedication touched countless lives and made an unforgettable impact on those around him.
"With a compassionate spirit and a genuine smile, Eric brought joy to everyone he met. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and hard work continues to inspire us each day. Let’s carry his memory forward by living as he did – with love, respect, and a commitment to making the world a brighter place. Rest in peace, Eric. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
"Tonight the dome will be going dark in honor of "Eric Paulsen."
