Trump Extends TikTok Deadline—What It Means for Louisiana Users
Louisiana TikTok users will be happy to hear that President Donald Trump has extended the TikTok ban deadline, for a second time.

President Trump has extended ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese-owned parent company, 's deadline to cease operations or sell its portion of the brand once again.
The deadline was initially set for January 19th due to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which former President Joe Biden signed into law in April 2024.
As we know, ByteDance has refused to sell its assets and now faces a nationwide ban. President Trump bought more time with an executive order which extended the deadline for 75 days, which was supposed to end on Saturday, April 5th.
Now, just 24 hours before the deadline, President Trump announced another 75-day extension, prolonging the deadline for a second time.
The President explained Friday that his team is working to save TikTok; however, the deal requires more time than originally anticipated.
What Does The TikTok Ban Extension Mean For Louisiana Users?
With the recent TikTok Ban 75-day extension, users can continue to access the app, for now.
The extension will hopefully provide enough time for additional negotiations regarding TikTok's ownership and how that affects national security, if at all.
Read President Trump's Announcement Below:
"My Administration has been working very hard on a Deal to SAVE TIKTOK, and we have made tremendous progress. The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days. We hope to continue working in Good Faith with China, who I understand are not very happy about our Reciprocal Tariffs (Necessary for Fair and Balanced Trade between China and the U.S.A.!). This proves that Tariffs are the most powerful Economic tool, and very important to our National Security! We do not want TikTok to “go dark.” We look forward to working with TikTok and China to close the Deal. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
