LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL News) – A vehicle fire is diverting traffic off of I-10 Westbound, Lafayette Police have confirmed Wednesday night.

"I-10 westbound is currently closed for normal flow of traffic due to a vehicle fire," Det. Ken Handy with LPD said in a statement. "Traffic is being diverted onto Louisiana Ave. An update shall follow once I-10 westbound is reopened."

Motorists traveling on I-10W are currently backed up about two miles as crews work to clear the roadway.
