ABBEVILLE, La. (KPEL News) - Early in the morning on November 19, 2024, Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting on LA Highway 695. Sheriff Eddie Langlinais confirmed that the incident involved multiple shots fired into a residence occupied by the homeowner and a guest. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the alarming incident.

Patrol deputies and detectives launched an immediate investigation upon arrival, collecting evidence that led to the identification of 52-year-old Frederick Washington, a resident of Abbeville, Louisiana, as the suspect. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Washington on the felony charge of Assault by Drive-by Shooting.

Later that afternoon, Washington was located on Hathorne Street in Abbeville. Detectives secured a search warrant for the premises and, with the support of the Vermilion Parish SWAT Team and officers from the Abbeville Police Department, safely apprehended Washington at approximately 4:56 PM without further incident.

Washington was subsequently booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center, where his bond has been set at $100,000. Sheriff Langlinais expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the involved law enforcement teams, whose coordination ensured the swift resolution of the case and the safety of the community.
