Last night, J. Cole set the internet ablaze when he dropped off "Middle Child," a T-Minus-produced new song that acts as a showcase for all of Cole's technical mastery. Now, it looks like that song is a sign of a brand-new solo album from the rapper.

Earlier today  (Jan. 24), Dreamville announced that J. Cole is currently in the studio working on completing his sixth studio album. Although the title has not been confirmed, Cole indicated last year that he's been putting in work on both The Fall Off album and his Kill Edward project. However, the label doesn't specify which project will serve as the follow-up to KOD.

For the unfamiliar, Kill Edward is Cole's alter ego, who is featured on KOD songs "The Cut Off" and "Friends." Although the final track on Cole's fifth studio album gives us a glimpse into The Fall Off, there are no details about the sonic direction of Kill Edward's project as of yet. Cole forecasted both new projects with a tweet he posted last spring.

"Was working on the fall off. And helping kiLL edward with his album. @killhisways but he don't tweet a lot," Cole tweeted in April 2018.

While there's no release date confirmed for J. Cole's sixth album, it doesn't seem like it's dropping during the first half of the year. Along with Revenge of the Dreamers III, Dreamville is planning to drop Ari Lennox's Shea Butter Baby album as well as Earthgang's Mirrorland in the first half of 2019.

Cole World: The Sideline Story (2011), Born Sinner (2013), 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014), 4 Your Eyez Only (2016) and KOD (2018) precede J. Cole's forthcoming sixth album.

Cole's album would most likely drop after everyone else. However, he could also drop it with barely a week's notice much like his previous LP.
