Jermaine Dupri has just made a few comments that are sure to make more than a few people upset.

Speaking with People in an interview uploaded Thursday (July 11), the So So Def founder explained his belief that female rappers of today don't offer up enough variance in their topics.

“They all rapping about the same thing," Dupri said. "I don’t think they’re showing us who is the best rapper. For me, it’s like strippers rapping. As far as rap goes, I’m not getting ‘who is the best rapper.’ I’m getting, like, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story... Ok. Who’s gonna be the rapper?”

While JD didn't claim to be a fan of today's female rappers, he did praise his own So So Def artist Da Brat for breaking the mold and becoming the first female rapper to go platinum.

For her part, Cardi B, who is set to rock at least a few more shows this summer, took issue with Durpi's comments about female rappers rapping about the same thing. The Grammy-winning artist jumped on her Twitter account and posted a video response. Cardi said that when she does rap about topics besides her own body and sex nobody wants to listen to it.

Cardi then went on to salute other female rappers "who be rapping their asses off" but "radio and blogs don't be supporting them" because they don't rap about their sexuality as much. The Bronx native then acknowledged Rapsody, 2019 XXL Freshman Tierra Whack, 2017 XXL Freshman Kamaiyah and more as "dope ass rappers" before encouraging her fans to support them.
